Despite all of the FBI's recent incompetence, the agency manages to snag a few terrorists in the making here and there. Like this disturbing discovery in New Jersey. An American citizen became enchanted with Islam. Soon he did little Islamic things, like pledging allegiance to ISIS and planning his first terrorist attack...

The Justice Department announced that Gregory Lepsky, 20, a US citizen from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, appeared in court to face charges of attempting to provide material to the Islamic State for his plan to construct and use a bomb similar to the one detonated at the 2013 Boston Marathon.

According to the criminal complaint filed on Thursday, New Jersey law enforcement first encountered Lepsky in February, when they responded to a call from one of Lepsky's family members who said he was attempting to butcher the family dog.

When police arrived ... Lepsky told officers that he was going to kill his mother and he had pledged allegiance to Allah. He also told officers he joined IS and planned to travel to Turkey. Officers found the family dog hiding under the bed with a large slash wound. Lepsky told officers he stabbed his dog because "in [his] view of Islam, the dog was 'dirty.'"

Lepsky told officers that he was going to make a pressure cooker bomb [and] place [the] home-made bomb in a busy area in New York City "in order to kill as many people as possible."

If convicted, this chap only gets twenty years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Looks like that bombing will have to take a two decade rain check. But I'm sure you can guess what he'll be up to when he gets out of the slammer...

Kudos to the FBI for catching this gremlin with a pressure cooker fetish. Unfortunately, this dude is just the latest in a slew of ISIS fanatics to take residence in unexpected places.
