Father Shares Story of Surrendering Daughter for Adoption
Abortion always ends with one life extinguished, another destroyed. There's a pervasive idea that adoption is nothing but heart breaking tragedy for the parents. Well a Twitter user with the handle @PoliticalSock shared his story of surrendering his daughter for adoption.
While he was clear how difficult it was to give her up, the rest of the story is full of love and life.
26 years ago today, I held this beautiful baby girl in my arms, knowing that 3 days later we would let her go to be… https://t.co/5NbfQLYw07— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508848415.0
Her birth mom & I knew what we should do, but we met with out pastor for counsel. He said there were 2 moral options: marriage or adoption— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508848520.0
We knew we weren’t ready for marriage. But on the 3rd day when we handed our little girl to the adoption worker, part of my soul went w her— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508848669.0
But in God’s way, this was 1 of 3 major turning points in my life. Not a day went by for 17 years when I didn’t think about & pray for her.— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508848751.0
And 17 years later, after I had a wife and family of my own, my long lost daughter reconnected with me. I got to meet her wonderful family.— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508848797.0

I won’t pretend it was easy to tell my 7 yr old daughter she wasn’t my 1st. But now she has a sister & a niece. 😃 https://t.co/CcIX6GdIyD— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508849171.0
(I’m always surrounded by girls it seems.) Adoption is new life. Every Oct. 24 reminds me of this. New life is worth celebrating.— Political Sock (@Political Sock) 1508849293.0

In giving life to this beautiful girl, even more life came.
Compare this story with the empty, hollow ones of #ShoutYourAbortion where defiant women, many of whom may secretly regret their "choice," seek approval from internet strangers. Their stories are filled with selfishness, brought about by sacrificing not their own feelings, but the lives of their unborn children. So they could live as they wished.
@PoliticalSock and the birth mother cited here were, like many women who have abortions, not in a position to raise a child. But their choice was much different. They didn't take the "easy way out" by driving to a clinic where the baby would be vacuumed out of the womb. They slowly fell in love with their unborn child. And as an ultimate act of love, gave her life. These parents sacrificed their innate, primal desire to keep their own child, and gave her to someone who could provide a wonderful life for her.
God bless this man for sharing his story. God bless this mother for sharing life. God bless this young woman who lived a happy life, and (from all appearances) carries it on to a new generation.
