Apparently Facebook has too many white men working for it. Solution? Bribe recruiters to close the “diversity gap” by awarding double points for minority employees. Except so far? Not really working.
Previously, recruiters were awarded one point for every new hire. Under the new system, they could earn 1.5 points for a so-called “diversity hire”—a black, Hispanic or female engineer—according to people familiar with the matter. More points can lead to a stronger performance review for recruiters and, potentially, a larger bonus, the people said.
When the numbers didn’t move, Facebook sweetened the deal. Starting last year, recruiters earned two points for a minority hire, or twice as much as for white or Asian males, who already were well-represented within its technical ranks.
Even so, Facebook has shown little progress. Last month, the company said 4% of its U.S. employees were Hispanic and 2% were black, the same as the two prior years. Women made up 33% of its global workforce, up from 31% in 2014.
A Facebook spokeswoman declined to comment on the incentive and wouldn’t say if it is still in use. “We continue to experiment with a variety of approaches to help in our efforts to increase the diversity of our workforce,” she said.
That’s right…too many Asians.
Here’s the rub, and this is where leftist hypocrisy misses the boat when it comes to “diversity.” If you’re bribing people to hire certain minorities, that means you think minorities are actually worth less than the white or Asian men. No, do not yell profanities at me. It’s true. Think about it for a second as you lower the bullhorn. You’re a recruiter at Facebook. One day you get a memo which essentially says it’s time to collect people with more colorful skin, so when you send out your canned “holiday” cards, SJW rubes don’t scream “WHITE PRIVILEGE!” at you. But because the higher-ups at Facebook believe skilled minorities are harder to find, they’re upping their point system. If you, the recruiter, can find a minority who actually has the qualifications to do the job? BONUS!
Which means Facebook doesn’t think minorities generally have the skills to do the job.
I mean, for a company as “woke” as Facebook, who values diversity over all else – except of course for diversity in opinion (see FACEBOOK LIES? Leaked Docs Reveal Employees Manipulate ‘Facebook Trending’… and Former Facebook Employees SPECIFICALLY NAME ‘Steven Crowder’ As Blacklisted News Site) – you’d think they’d be confident in minorities’ abilities to impress recruiters on their own. You know, merit. Skills. Education. All that stuff you list on your resume and LinkedIn profiles.
But no, they don’t.
“Diversity” is a stupid, racist notion for all the reasons listed above. All capital D “Diversity” cares about is skin tone. It assumes all black Americans were formed in the same mold, you just need one or two to fill out your quota. Voila, diversity. Same for hispanics. “Diversity” assumes all hispanics have a shared experience, worldview, etc simply because they’re hispanic. Sorry, but…
If you want to be “color blind,” then omit skin tone from the equation entirely. Hire people for their talent. Hire people for their skills. Hire people for the trustworthy characters.
