‘Absurd Conspiracy Theory:’ Trump Campaign Blasts Latest Attempt To Bar Him From Ballot

The political purge continues as a liberal activist group filed a lawsuit to block former President Donald Trump from the 2024 primary ballot in Colorado Wednesday. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed the suit in Denver District Court on behalf of six RINOS and unaffiliated Colorado voters.
This is the latest attempt by Democrats as they face the uncomfortable reality that their own voters are not sold on Sleepy Joe. An Obama-appointed judge just dismissed a similar case in Florida last month because the plaintiffs lacked standing.
The suit demands that Trump be removed from the GOP primary ballot and "any future election ballot," citing the 14th Amendment’s ban on insurrectionists holding office.
“If the very fabric of our democracy is to hold, we must ensure that the Constitution is enforced and the same people who attacked our democratic system not be put in charge of it,” CREW President Noah Bookbinder said.
In other words, they want to rig the election to protect democracy. The cognitive dissonance is very real in this statement. They claim they want to protect the Constitution by not letting the voters decide who gets the primary, which is probably the most undemocratic and dictatorial thing you can do.
The Trump campaign has called the lawsuit’s premise an “absurd conspiracy theory” that reflects a desire among opponents to take him out of the 2024 race.
“The people who are pursuing this absurd conspiracy theory and political attack on President Trump are stretching the law beyond recognition,” campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told ABC News in a statement. “There is no legal basis for this effort except in the minds of those who are pushing it.”
Marginalizing potential rivals to ensure continued survival in power is taken right out of the dictator's playbook. But they claim this is all meant to protect ‘democracy.’
“We aren’t bringing this case to make a point, we’re bringing it because it is necessary to defend our republic both today and in the future. While it is unprecedented to bring this type of case against a former president, January 6th was an unprecedented attack that is exactly the kind of event the framers of the 14th Amendment wanted to build protections in case of. You don’t break the glass unless there’s an emergency,” Bookbinder said.
If Democrats really cared about affirming faith in our elections, then maybe they shouldn’t try to prevent voters from deciding as they attempt to expel Trump from the regime once again.
