DOJ to Force Its Agents to Complete 'Implicit Bias' Training...

Team Crowder
June 27, 2016

Not long ago we talked about how universities are implementing "Bias Response Teams." Then we found out Marines were forced to undergo "Unconscious Bias" training, because reasons. Now even the DOJ is complying with the anti-bias epidemic. The Justice Department is hard at work forcing its agents not to flinch every time a black guy reaches into his pocket. Because sometimes he's just reaching for his phone. Sometimes, you're dead. Racist. According to Reuters, the training will be mandatory and starts soon.

The U.S. Justice Department will announce on Monday that more than 33,000 federal agents and prosecutors will receive training aimed at preventing unconscious bias from influencing their law enforcement decisions, department officials told Reuters. [The] bias prevention plans [follow] a spate of shootings of unarmed black men by white police officers.

The program targets "implicit biases" - subtle, unconscious stereotypes or characterizations nearly everyone makes about certain groups of people. The training will be mandatory for all Justice Department agents and prosecutors and will be rolled out over the next year...

Might I remind us all that we're talking about "bias" here. As in, something that's extremely difficult to identify. Like Amy Schumer in a lineup of potatoes. Or Lena Dunham in a ... lineup of potatoes. The DOJ describes it as "unconscious stereotypes and characterizations about certain groups of people." It never claims that said characterizations are untrue, though.

Is it a waste of resources and time? Yes. But it isn't all too shocking after taking a gander at the garbage ideas the DOJ pushes (see Obama's DOJ Demands We Stop Calling Convicts 'Criminals'... Because Feelings?!). Also, all these changes come after heavy criticism from the SJW left. Surprise, surprise...

The department had been criticized for not developing its own policies to combat bias after recommending local police do so at the direction of a task force created by President Barack Obama after riots in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri.

Look, nobody is advocating for systemic racism. However, "biases" are a natural part of the human state as conditioned through life experiences. Police officers are, by the very nature of their job, forced to make split-second generalizations in order to save their lives. For active duty officers, fighting crime every single day, to simply observe a correlation between crime and a specific demographic isn't racism. If the black community is upset that, for example, blacks are associated with committing crimes... maybe the black community should be upset with black people disproportionately committing so many crimes (New Data Directly Correlates #BlackLivesMatter To Rise in Chicago Homicide). Perhaps their ire is better directed at the thugs destroying their neighborhoods than the policemen trying to patrol it. Just an idea.
