Denzel Washington Tells College Graduates: 'Put God first'

Brodigan
May 11, 2015

While some used their commencement address to complain and talk about themselves (hint; she's always complaining and talking about herself... okay it's Michelle Obama), actor Denzel Washington did something shocking at his...he talked about God.

Denzel Washington talking about God isn't shocking. Shocking was that a celebrity, any celebrity was, and doing so on a college campus where the word "God" is most likely considered a micro-aggression against... something. Denzel actually talks about God all the time, especially when addressing and inspiring younger Americans. See this other video below.

He's never shied away from talking about his faith, and he didn't this past weekend, telling the graduating class to remember to thank God every night before they went to bed that evening...

"Thank you for grace, thank you for mercy, thank you for understanding, thank you for wisdom, thank you for parents, thank you for love, thank you for kindness, thank you for humility, thank you for peace, thank you for prosperity. Say thank you in advance for what's already yours.True desire in the heart for anything good is God's proof to you, sent beforehand, to indicate that it's yours already."

This quote particularly is something that all students - and even some adults - need to hear.

"Don't just aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference."

Amen.
