When Democrats took over Congress, you knew the gun control attempts were coming. It was as predictable as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bugging out her eyes to give a non answer while expecting to be taken seriously. So rigid are leftists in their grab all the guns stance, they won't allow Representative Steve Scalise to enter any pro-gun testimony into the official record. Yes, the same Republican congressman who was on the wrong end of an assassination attempt. You would think the opinion of someone who was shot and almost killed would be valuable. Democrats disagree. When it's the "wrong" opinion. So Scalise is releasing his testimony to the public.

In fact, these new gun control measures being proposed in H.R. 8 would not have prevented any number of recent mass violence events. Several perpetrators of recent multi-victim shootings also purchased their guns legally. In some instances, the background check system failed, and lack of intervention from law enforcement failed to intercept potential threats.

I want to stress that the man who shot me was issued a permit to purchase firearms by the state of Illinois, and had acquired them legally. At Virginia Tech, Charleston, and Sutherland Springs failures in the background check system allowed individuals to illegally obtain the firearms they used to commit their crimes. The alleged loopholes that H.R. 8 claims to fix would not have prevented these tragedies either.

Instead, whether intentionally or not, the gun control proposals in H.R. 8 could turn law abiding citizens into criminals while also failing to achieve the stated purpose of reducing gun violence.

This is why there are a lot more important things going on other than "Trump said some dumb shit on Twitter." Leftists want you to focus on that so you vote them into office. Where they can start chipping away at the Second Amendment. Along with our other rights.

Your rights matter more than Trump's misspellings. Your rights matter more than Trump's spray tan habit. Your rights matter more than AOC's white dresses. You already know it. Democrats think you don't.
