'That 70s Show' Actor Danny Masterson Allegedly Raped FOUR Women. They Were Silenced...
You may fondly recall Danny Masterson and his curly-cues from That 70's Show. Or more recently staring opposite the same pretty boy Kutcher in The Ranch. But apparently he was up to more than prancing around in bell bottoms and sunglasses. According to these four women, he had a penchant for rape.
A monthslong investigation into multiple allegations of rape against actor Danny Masterson has inexplicably stalled, despite the Los Angeles County district attorney having compelling evidence in the case. Four women have accused Masterson of raping them in the early 2000s.
[One] woman said Masterson raped her while she was "passed out," and when she awoke and realized he was raping her, she struggled with him until he choked her out and she passed out again.
That paragraph is heavy with serious implications. Firstly, if officials have damning evidence, why is Masterson still walking free? Also, why did it take so long for these women to get justice for something that happened at least a decade ago? HuffPo (yes, that HuffPo) has answers.
Saddle up, things are about to get weird.
Masterson is a longtime member of the Church of Scientology, an organization that has a history of covering up allegations of misconduct leveled against ... its members. At least three of the women who accused him of rape were also Scientologists and reported the incidents to the Church of Scientology.
In Scientology, reporting another Scientologist to law enforcement is considered a "suppressive act" and can lead to immediate expulsion from the organization. The church is known for attacking accusers ... and organizing its members to take action against accusers.
Yes, so now we have a celebrity, rape, and Scientology. So far, most bizarre story of the day.
One of Masterson's accusers filed a police report in 2004 ... but the case didn't move forward after the Church of Scientology intervened and submitted over 50 affidavits from Scientologists who denied the woman's account. According to two sources with knowledge of the case, the woman's case file from 2004 vanished, leaving Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller to reconstruct it.
Apologies for the language, but...
So we already knew Scientology was rooted in creepiness. But this gives us a peek into just how disturbing their white-knuckled hold on Hollywood is. Here we have a man accused of rape, with mounting evidence against him, yet the case has been disrupted and at one point vanished. Word on the street is Masterson also has the same lawyer Bill Cosby did. Surprise, surprise. It's all pointing toward guilt, yet this church was still able to intervene and stop due process.
The past few months have shown us a mighty tussle with the toilet that is Hollywood. It's morality and due process vs celebrity butt nuggets. Up until recently, Hollywood has gotten its Bill Cosbyish way. But now they're beginning to circle the drain. Good riddance.
