D.C. perfectly exemplifies how raising minimum wage is a big no-no. Now they’re scrambling to fix the new problems they’ve created… With even worse policies.
Nearly half of Washington, D.C. employers said they have either laid off employees or reduced the hours of employees to adapt to the District of Columbia’s minimum wage hikes since 2014.
“In recent months, the City Council in D.C. has considered enacting a number of new labor mandates, including a higher minimum wage, a bill that would fine employers for schedule changes, and a family leave policy funded by a tax on employers,” [a report from the Employment Policies Institute] says.
Ever wonder what Washington D.C. thinks of its business owners? Apparently they hate them (Raise Minimum Wage? How Obama Ran ‘The Gap’ Out of Business). How are we to conclude otherwise? Raising the minimum wage led to layoffs. Did the political do-gooders, high on their own pomposity, solve this problem by lowering the minimum wage? Don’t be daft. The lobbyist-bought Armani-suited turdnuggets in D.C. said let’s raise it even more! That will doubly solve the problem of employment!
Because yes, that’s the idea. Having a job? Pathetic. Why flip burgers, clean bathrooms, or answer phones when you can crash on your couch and watch daytime TV? So long as you vote Democrat every two years, there’s no problem. In fact one could argue (and I am) the leftist goal is to ensure people are stupid, lazy, and unemployed. Otherwise known as victims. Otherwise known as losers. Losers who will clamor every two to four years for the candidate promising the most free crap (read Dear ‘Men’ Who Vote Bernie Sanders: You’re Not Men at All…. Ten points goes to the best chant and/or hashtag campaign. #FeelTheBern bitches.
