Ted Cruz Spanks Sally Yates for Defying 'Travel Ban' Executive Order
Stories of Ted Cruz making mince meat of leftist sock puppets is legion (Ted Cruz Uses Actual Numbers. Completely DESTROYS Bernie Sanders!). And here we have another who's offered herself as sacrifice: Sally Yates, an acting Attorney General hold over from Barack Obama's glittering tenure, decided to pass on her new boss's (El Trump-o) executive order to stop immigration from certain countries with penchants for terrorism.
Note: video starts with Cruz admonishing James Clapper over the mishandling of Huma Abedin's emailing of classified information to "Carlos Danger" (her perverted man spouse, Anthony Weiner), which is worth watching. But if you want to get right to Yates, scrub to 3:40.
Favorite exchange:
Cruz: "Let’ revisit the topic, Ms. Yates, that you and Senator Cornyn were talking about. Is it correct that the Constitution vests the executive authority in the president?"Yates: "Yes."
Cruz: "And if an attorney general disagrees with a policy decision of the president and a policy decision that is lawful, does the attorney general have the authority to direct the department of justice to defy the president’s order?"
Yates: "I don’t know whether the attorney general has the authority to do that or not but I don’t think it would be a good idea. And that’s not what I did in this case."
Cruz: "Well, are you familiar with 8 U.S.C., section 1182?"
Yates: "Not off the top of my head, no."
Cruz: "Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination. So it is a relevant and not a terribly obscure statute."
Shorter Ted Cruz:
Look, all one needs to know here is Sally Yates is not, in fact, serving on the Supreme Court. She does not, in fact, get to decide what laws she will or will not follow based on her feelings. Anymore than you or I can decide if we want to pay our taxes, even if we're not keen on how the government is spending our taxes. Like engaging in activities which aren't constitutional. Just spitballing here, but like forcing Americans to buy something lest they're taxed for it. See also REPORT: ObamaCare Rates to Increase More Than Predicted. WAY More.
It's a crapshoot all around, Sallykins.
As acting Attorney General, it was Sally Yates' duty to carry out the law, especially since protecting America and controlling who's allowed to enter America? Not that extreme an idea. But since she passed on her job, the job passed on her. A point clearly lost along with her job. But hey, there's an upside to everything. At least Cruz got to engage in some soft slap-boxing for our enjoyment.
Now watch more Ted Cruz. You know you want to!
