Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Threatens Donald Trump Jr. with Subpoena for Making Fun of Her. Which is Actually Illegal.

Corey Stallings
December 07, 2018

Right now, we're living in the golden age of memery. The finest keyboard warriors to have ever had a funny bone and a Photoshop subscription are living amongst us. Donald Trump, Jr. certainly seems to appreciate a good meme. He shared this one of incoming congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

Funny stuff, right? Well, Representative Ornithology-Cortex doesn't seem to think so:

I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats u… https://t.co/R8luP6WkjL
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez)1544208871.0

Yeah, "you shouldn't make funnies about people who can toss you in the slammer" doesn't sound ominous at all. It's also kind of an ethical no-no:

This unfortunate revelation led Alex to change her tune:

For the GOP crying that this is a “threat” - I don’t have power to subpoena anybody. Congress as a body, GOP inclu… https://t.co/Kig7fZtOdd
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez)1544213961.0

"Come on, guys. I was only kidding around. I know I said I have the power of subpoena, but I don't. You didn't think I was being serious, did you?"

Allow me to repeat Cortez's words. "It’s definitely a 'very, very large brain' idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month." There's no misreading the tweet. According to Alex, it's dummy stuff to make wisecracks toward a person in the "chamber" of government with subpoena power.

This passive-aggressive threat slinging would be right at home on an episode of The Sopranos. "You know you're a real funny guy, Donnie. It'd be a real shame if somebody were to subpoena your delicate posterior into a world of trouble. Know what I mean?"

Cortez's acolytes keep telling us to chill with the criticisms. That she's a noob isn't lost on me. The occasional screw-up is forgivable. Except her cranial flatulence is a daily occurrence. Her gaffe game puts even Crazy Joe Biden to shame.

Democrats held this socialist blunder machine up as the future of their party. Seems to me they made a big boo-boo. Alas, there's a no return policy on craptastic Democrat figureheads. Now, they'll have to live with her. Sucks to be them.
