If we've learned anything over the past few years, it's that leftist ideology has as many myths as Lena Dunham's rear-end has cellulite dimples. Well, almost as many. From climate change to rape stats, progressives tend to prefer flat out ignoring facts, instead opting to blatantly fabricate phony information. You know, for equality. Also agenda peddling purposes.

Hence the "gender wage gap" myth. To hear Kristen Bell and Emma Watson tell it, there's an evil league of white, cis males scheming to make sure women make less money than men. Well, that gap is about as real as Kwanzaa is an actual holiday. Turns out the wage gap argument doesn't exactly hold up well under nifty things like math. Christina Hoff Sommers explains in detail below...

The 77 cents on a dollar statistic is calculated by dividing the median earnings of all the women working full time by the median earnings of all men working full time. In other words, if the average income of all men is, say, $40,000 a year... And the average income of all women is $30,800, that would mean that women earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns.

But these calculations don't reveal a gender wage injustice because they don't take into account occupation, position, education, or hours worked per week.

Behold, the power of math. But it gets even better...

Even a study by the American Association of University Women - a feminist organization - shows that the actual wage gap shrinks to only 6.6 cents when you factor in different choices men and women make. The key word here is choice. The small wage gap that does exist has nothing to do with sexism... It has to do with differences in individual career choices that men and women make.

Despite having had all the facts drawn out for them in crayon, leftists still cling to the wage gap myth (watch Leftist Bank Shamelessly Exploits Children to Push Gender Pay Gap Myth). In 2017, victimhood has become the new currency. Thus, leftists earn their street cred by faking their victim status or bragging about being oppressed and abused... But mostly faking it.
