It does not take a genius to know that a security guard is tasked with protecting the place he is guarding. It also does not take a genius to know that progressive prosecutors have no interest in prosecuting those who commit crimes. They would much rather go after productive members of society who are just trying to make a living by doing their jobs. Unfortunately, it is becoming far too common that we see authorities going after the victims of crimes rather than the criminals.

According to The Post Millennial:

"Authorities are investigating a security guard who fired a shot from his gun in response to a robbery at a Chanel store in Washington DC on Sunday.

Investigators are trying to determine if the security guard's actions were justified, according to WUSA 9.

Shocking surveillance footage shows six brazen burglars storming into the luxury retail store around 5:30 pm on Sunday. One of the suspects wielded a fire extinguisher and sprayed employees as the robbers grabbed as much merchandise as they could before exiting the store.

As the fleeing thieves raced back outside carrying their stolen goods, an armed security guard employed by Chanel discharged a single round from his firearm. However, according to Second District Commander Tatjana Savoy of the Metropolitan Police Department, the bullet did not strike the thieves.

The six criminals jumped into a white sedan to make their escape.

Police said the group stole 99 purses, which amounts to $250,000 worth of stolen merchandise, according to Fox 5."

This is incomprehensible. The criminal things assaulted employees with a fire extinguisher, stole a quarter of a million dollars in merchandise, and thought the most productive and smart thing to do in this situation was to go after the man doing his job. He was just trying to protect the store employees.

What on earth did they want the security guard to do in this situation? Hide?

They don't even pretend to care that they want to investigate who the thieves are. They cannot even be bothered to deal with this. But while D.C. has turned into a crime-ridden cesspool, authorities decided to show criminals whose in charge of things over there.

This article literally comes right after we reported that D.C. will soon not even be investigating these sorts of crimes. It is just too much for them and they can no longer be bothered by itty bitty things of this nature.

Because authorities refuse to do their jobs, many stores are now spending more on security than rent. But I can tell you that won't even matter anymore because being a security guard seems to be more of a crime than a crime itself.

According to Fox Business:

"Bo Blair, who owns the Surfside Taco Stand and several other establishments across Washington, told FOX Business he is spending $4,000 per week on private security as the District deals with spikes in carjackings, muggings, and other crimes.

'It's not sustainable,' Blair told correspondent Griff Jenkins on Thursday as he stood outside his Dupont Circle taquería.

'Hopefully we can get through this crime crisis and we won't have to do that in the future. The total amount of money we spent on security for this year at all the locations was over $450,000,' he said.

Jenkins said Blair owns ten other restaurants in Washington, and that it has not been as easy to pass off security costs to customers as some restaurants were able to do when inflation first reared its head.

Some of Blair's restaurants are paying more in security than rent, Jenkins further reported, adding that, in this case, the business owner is trying his best not to shift the burden to his customers."

This is honestly incredibly sad. These people are just trying to make an honest living as they provide goods for society, including jobs so that other people can make a living. But D.C. has been run by Democrats for decades. It is quite clear anything progressives touch, turns into destruction.

How are business owners supposed to deal with all this and inflation? They can't. It is possible that the big stores like Target can, but not the mom-and-pop shops. So while Progressives pretend to care for the little guy, they are subsequently ruining their lives.

All this is going on in our nation's capital. Many parts of the third world are not even subjected to this level of cruelty and insanity.
