Black Panther Star Gives Best Hero Award to Real Life Waffle House Hero
Black Panther was one of the most politicized movies of the past year (see Video: Joe Rogan Speaks Out on the Black Panther 'Controversies' and Leftists Whine Over the Lack of Lesbian Love Scenes in 'Black Panther'). So when star Chadwick Boseman won the Best Hero Award at the MTV Movie Awards, you'd assume politics would work their way into his speech. Instead, it was the exact opposite. He called up real-life Waffle House hero James Shaw Jr.. To give the award to him.
Shaw didn't just save people. He raised over $200,000 for the victims' families. As far as heroes go, he definitely outranks anyone who plays make believe for a living.
A lot of times at these award shows, the news is mostly about leftist celebrities saying something douchey. I'm sure there was plenty of that elsewhere during the MTV Movie Awards.
But between Boseman and Chris Pratt, we saw class speeding down the moral high road. Not all awards shows will contain nuggets of inspiration, but this one did. Let's celebrate when celebrities do good. You with me?
Now for something completely non-polite, non-classy, but 100% hysterical:
