NEW: Local CBS News outlet says the Turning Point event at UC Berkeley was "mostly peaceful" before showing footage of a Charlie Kirk supporter getting his face beaten open.
Antifa was accused of trying to stop the event with tear gas, fireworks, and glass bottles.

In the opening moments of this CBS segment, the network claimed that a fight had broken out. They then showed a clip of the reporter who described the Turning Point event at UC Berkeley as “mostly peaceful,” despite clear evidence to the contrary.
I just checked online, and the word peaceful is defined as “free from disturbance” or even “tranquil.” Another definition describes it as “not involving war or violence.” This makes one wonder—does CBS not understand what the word peaceful actually means? Be that as it may, that won’t stop the left from insisting that attacking conservatives simply because they disagree with them is somehow “mostly peaceful.”
According to CBS:
Two months after conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was killed on a college campus, his organization, Turning Point USA held an event at UC Berkeley.
It was the final tour stop of the "American Comeback Tour", but outside, some Berkeley students were protesting the event.
The protest lasted for hours, starting before the event and continuing through it. There were some tense moments as a car drove by and backfired, and someone threw smoke bombs, but Simmalaychanh was trying to encourage people to stay.
I think it’s more than safe to assume that the violence wasn’t directed at the protesters. I’m not sure if that’s the narrative CBS wants you to believe—but you can do the math.
There was also a major scuffle between two men. UC Berkeley police had to break it up, at least one person was arrested.
Why can’t they just condemn the violence and be done with it? Why must they flirt with misleading narratives and bury the parts where the protesters targeted conservatives? They can’t even do the bare minimum—acknowledge that there was violence—without first determining the political affiliation of those involved.
If I didn’t know any better, I might say they’re trying to mislead the public into believing that any violence—if it occurred—could never come from their side. But I do know better, so I won’t be saying that.
Nonetheless, some protests are not peaceful, even when they start out with zero violence. It’s unclear why this seems like rocket science to them, but you’re free to draw your own conclusions. That being said, for an “idea” that is supposedly not an organization made up of people, they sure do show up at a lot of these events. Why do you think that is?
