CBS News/YouGov Poll: Donald Trump's SOTU Scored with Americans
President Trump delivered his second State of the Union address on Tuesday night. This was a chance for the president to talk directly to the American people. And according to this CBS News/YouGov instant poll, the American People liked what they heard.
One part in particular.

CBS News partnered with polling company YouGov to determine instant public reaction to President Donald Trump State of the Union speech delivered Tuesday night, and the returns are very encouraging for the White House.CBS Evening News anchor Jeff Glor told viewers “CBS News instant poll here following the President’s State of the Union. 76 percent of the speech-watchers said they approved of what they heard, 72 percent they approved of the President’s ideas for immigration.”
Some caveats. Instant polls aren't the most scientifically accurate. Also, while very encouraging, Donald Trump needs to not distract from the speech with any Twitter rants during his "executive time." It is what it is.
But, anytime you lay our your vision for America and three quarters of the population likes it, that's cause for celebration. ESPECIALLY the 72% liking the immigration segment. Effective phrasing and messaging ain't no joke (see Representative Dan Crenshaw Explains How a Wall is Compassionate, Not Racist and Dan Crenshaw has a New Name for Open Border Democrats, and It’s Perfect).
So the White House has some serious momentum. Which can lead to some YUGE gains. Game on.
