Ignore the poncho-clad rapists and murders. Gang tatted hombres are just here to work... as pimps. But that's a cultural difference. The usual nine to five stuff. PIMPS ARE PEOPLE TOO, BIGOT!

Take those same liberal sentiments north to our Canadian compadres, whose open border policy is backfiring:

Detention of Mexican citizens in Canada has spiked since December, when the government lifted its visa requirement for visitors from Mexico, figures obtained by Reuters show, even as Canada burnishes its image as more welcoming than the United States.

Detentions in the first five months of 2017 were more than twice the previous two years combined, according to Canada Border Services Agency statistics provided last week in response to a Reuters request.

This is what we'd call "not learning from other's mistakes." Where "other's" is the USA. Canada hoped to score some feel good woke points, only to get spat upon by illegal hombres. Told you so.

Canada's detention of Mexicans surged more than tenfold from 24 in November to 331 in April, the data show. The number of Mexicans filing refugee claims more than quadrupled from November to March.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised to lift the visa requirement, imposed by the previous government, during the 2015 election campaign in an effort to improve bilateral relations. Visitors from Mexico can now apply online for an electronic travel permit in a process that takes minutes.

When feelings trump truth, criminals trump laws. The narrative of "illegal immigrants are just people looking for a better life" sounds swell on a Hallmark card. But touchy feely virtue signaling doesn't make for great immigration or national security policy. Sadly it's not the enactors of these policies (like Justin "I Feel Pretty" Trudeau) who have to live with the results. It's Canadian citizens trying to go about their daily lives. I'll sidestep the pedestrian maple syrup joke just this once.

These immigration numbers are significant. But danger means squat when one can brag about how much you care for the downtrodden. Even if the "downtrodden" are trodding over the rights and safety of others.
