I know, California being a pit of leftist hades is hardly news… But that awfulness has reached a fever pitch since the election (see California’s Pro-Hillary Protesters Turn to Rioting, Violence… and Leftist Protesters Get Violent Against Trump Supporters in San Jose). The Golden State’s latest move? The legislature has drafted a resolution condemning Donald Trump in Californian fashion.
Yes, that’s in reference to the Donald Trump whose posterior has yet to even grace the Oval Office chair. In short? It’s a bitter, virtue signaling fiesta. Turns out California Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez wasn’t too impressed…
Monday marked the first day of session for the California State Legislature. It is a day where all California State representatives are sworn into office and commit to defending the Constitution. It has traditionally been a day of celebration, a renewed scene of bipartisanship and putting the people first.
Unfortunately, the Democrat majority decided to break from tradition by introducing a bitterly partisan and hypocritical Resolution that condemns President-elect Donald J. Trump and seeks to further divide our country along politically expedient lines.
Now more than ever, we must come together as a country rather than stooping to cheap tricks in an effort to grab headlines.
First of all, those remarkably sane words? They came from a Californian politician. A rare sight if ever there was one.
Melendez makes a few points here worth noting. Most importantly, we haven’t even seen what a Trump presidency looks like yet. The man doesn’t get sworn in for another month. So calm your ponies, California.
Obviously, one of the major issues California has with Trump involves immigration. You know, because they have a rather spicy, illegal populace to look after (see Surprise! Illegal Immigrants Received HALF of All California Drivers’ Licenses in 2015…). It’s to be expected from Little Mexico.
Still, both sides should refrain from making too many judgments until Trump takes office. There have been boat loads of candidates who fail to deliver on campaign promises. And those promises, by the way? Not bad things.
California, like most leftists, promptly rushed to label Trump’s plans as “HATE SPEECH!” Hence the disavowing going on already. In the meantime, they forgot to actually take a look at said plans. As Melissa points out in the video, Trump’s immigration policy could help in the long run. Still, campaign promises do not a border wall make. Much like how Trump’s campaign remarks don’t count as hate speech, what with it not being a real thing and all…
