Chalk up another victory for the gender blurring wars. The boy only safe space previously known as "the Boy Scouts" are now admitting people who aren't boys. Specifically, girls:

The Boy Scouts of America announced Wednesday that girls will soon be allowed to become Cub Scouts and to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest honor.

"We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children," said Michael Surbaugh, chief executive of the Boy Scouts.

The scouting board of directors voted unanimously to make the historic change in an organization that has been primarily for boys since its founding more than 100 years ago.

M'kay. Firstly, I take no issue with a private organization making decisions for itself. Furthermore, I take no issue with a private organization wishing to modernize. The Boy Scouts can change their admission rules to account for rabid koala bears. Whatever, they can do what they want. Okay? We good? Mandatory disclaimer read and received?

Lets carry on.

I'd bet my favorite throw pillow the Boy Scouts are hoping to score cheap political points for caving to -- what they perceive -- as a massive push to erase any and all distinctions between ladies and gentlemen. Or they're simply trying to get ahead of a lawsuit. Transgenderism being the cause du jour it is, the militant left has marched on traditional (based on biology) views of gender for quite some time. I say "quite some time" because I cannot pinpoint the genesis of this latest campaign to blast chromosomes into social justice oblivion.

We can debate the merits of gender roles, while ladies make sandwiches and men hammer up dry wall, for the next several decades. But biology is, was and always will be defined by science. Not what Caitlyn Jenner says to Page Six.

The Boy Scouts were specifically for boys. A point which shouldn't need specifying, what with "boy" being part of its name. But welcome to 2017. Biological females have their own troupe aptly titled "The Girl Scouts" where, I assume, boys will not be allowed? It's hard to predict how quickly the left will push the throttle into full crazy. Men who say they're women are permitted into girls' bathrooms, after all.

There's nothing wrong with boys having their own space to be boys. As there's nothing wrong with girls having their own space to be girls. Creating distinctive groups based on biology isn't pitting one against the other. At least not to those of us with more than two brain cells to rub together.

A pity the Boy Scouts didn't see it as simply as the rest of us do.
