Criminal justice activists tend to claim that this country has a mass incarceration and over-policing problem. It is very clear that there has been a campaign going on for years to convince the masses that criminal justice policies that increased prison sentences for criminals had no impact on crime, while systematically targeting minorities.

But what most activists refuse to admit is that the reason that there are more blacks and Latinos in state and federal prisons is because they commit more crimes than other races. That is just a fact.

Jamaal Bowman tweeted out a video of himself claiming that our criminal justice system is racist and needs a “revolution.”

“As you know, we need a revolution within our criminal justice system. Period. Point blank,” Bowman said in a video he posted on X. “It is inhumane. It is racist. It is operating exactly as it was designed to be operating. And it is something that has been nurtured and funded historically by not just Republicans, Democrats as well.”

“It's connected to stop and frisk. It's connected to just being able to pull someone over on the highway without real Just Cause. It's connected to the lack of affordable housing in our communities. It's connected to food insecurity. It's connected to the lack of workforce development in our communities. It's connected to mental health, it's connected to miseducation. And it's connected to substance abuse, among many other things,” he said.

Why is it that squad members always seem to imply that if black people just had free bread, there would be no more crime?

In just one example of why Bowman is a liar, black people make up roughly 13 percent of the population. However, they accounted for over 50 percent of homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008. This makes the offending rate for blacks nearly eight times higher than for whites, Most homicides were intraracial, with 93 percent of black victims killed by blacks and nearly 85 percent of white victims killed by whites.

Is this really the fault of food insecurity?

Ironically, releasing these criminals back into communities rather than completing their sentences disproportionately hurts the population Bowman pretends to advocate for.

Second of all, over 99 percent of drug offenders in federal prisons are dealers, according to a study by the Urban Institute. And the race of drug dealers varies by the drugs they sell—88 percent of the crack dealers are black, 54 percent of the powder cocaine dealers are Latino, and 48 percent of the meth dealers are white. On top of that, almost all of them received a plea bargain.

“We all know this. And as I said at the beginning, this has been tried and facilitated by Republicans and Democrats historically," he concluded”

Bowman also recently criticized President Joe Biden during an interview, claiming he was losing support among black voters because he had not taken any meaningful action on reparations. He made the remarks last week on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight” show, saying there has been “no conversation at all about reparations.”

“People of color have been turned off for a while because of a lack of comprehensive immigration reform if you’re talking about the Latino community, and no conversation at all about reparations, if you’re talking about the Black community,” he said.

Basically, Bowman wants to separate Americans into ethnic groups so that we can waste a bunch of money for ancestral crimes that no one was alive for.

He added, “But we’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars every year on weapons in war, but we can’t even have a conversation about reparations? Those are the things that are happening right now."

Progressives love to ignore the role of individual autonomy and transfer responsibility for certain people onto societal failure. At the very least, reparations solve absolutely nothing.

That said, there is never a time when the innocent should be forced to pay people who are not even victims. But I guess that's the only way we can achieve "equity."
