Bill Maher Nails Islamophobia: 'It's not a phobia when it's real!'
Look, I've said before that Islamophobia is a perfectly rational phobia. Despite the left telling me that my greatest threats are Paul Ryan, the NRA and Jesus, I think that a "phobia" of angry Muslims who want to kill me is... borderline logical! And while it's not surprising that Bill Maher agrees, it's always good to hear from someone on the left who does.
I hear a lot of talk today about xenophobia. Is it really phobia if you have something to be afraid of? Fifty-two percent of British Muslims think being gay should be illegal.
There certainly is a hard right wing in this country. But they have no power. It's a lot different. Do you really think if America had radicalized ghettos of Muslims like London and Brussels and Paris where a woman who would walk down the street in a short skirt would be hassled because it was anti-Islamic? What would Americans do if that happened in this country?
Can we all agree on this because even the people who fight me on this issue usually agree that Islam needs a reformation. Do we all agree on that?...
Every time somebody says 'Islamophobia' it gives the people who are intimidating cover.
Maybe we need common sense Islam reform?
That begs the question; what would common sense Islam reform look like? Hmmm, I'm no legislator, but here are a few of my propositions. Off the top of my head.
- Denouncement of Sharia Law.
- Denouncement of punishment for apostasy.
- Denouncement of all centralized Islamic governments like Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc.
- Denouncement of Muhammad's calling for the murder of Christians and Jews
- Denouncement of punishment for anyone drawing Muhammad. Prerequisite for all immigration Muslims to draw Muhammad themselves.
Maybe when the above happens, and only when the above happens, the left can argue that our skepticism toward the ideology of Islam is merely a "phobia." Until then, I'm going to call it "logic."
Islam needs a civil war. I explain below.
