Bill Maher Nails it: 'Ahmed Mohamed Didn't Invent a Clock!'
So Ahmed Mohamed didn't build a clock. He took a clock a part and put it in a pencil case. Again, we're not allowed to ask why he would do such a thing and call it an "invention" (because asking makes us racist Islamophobes...or something). Fortunately Bill Maher is willing to take the arrows on this fight. Watch:
Is it too soon to ask if this kid and his family will be...I don't know...held accountable for lying? Isn't this some kind of fraud? When can we start asking why Ahmed would do this, and even better, who put him up to it? He didn't invent a clock, he didn't create a clock and he didn't even assemble a clock, he took apart a clock and called it an invention. Like Al Gore saying he invented the internet. Or better, if someone covered a song and said "I wrote that song" just because they sang it. If I put out a YouTube video of me singing "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, it doesn't necessarily give me licensing rights.
Maybe it's too soon to ask what would've been done to this kid if he'd been Skylar Miller, or little Bobby Jones. Would Microsoft had sent him a crap ton of free stuff, or would the kid's family be sued for some kind of fraud?
But again, I'm just a racist.
