Bernie Sanders Attacks Uber - Even Liberals Turn On Him...
This may shock you, but openly socialist/perpetually unkempt Bernie Sanders doesn't like Uber...
Sen. Bernie Sanders, the self-described democratic socialist currently running for the Democratic presidential nomination, says he has "serious problems" with car service company Uber because it's "unregulated."Sanders made the remark in an interview with Bloomberg News. There doesn't appear to be any additional context to the quote. But for Sanders, there probbaly doesn't need to be. The fact that Uber is big, successful—it was recently valued at $51 billion—and relatively innovative is problem enough. The only way to solve that problem with regulation.
I don't think Sanders understands that Uber's "unregulated" status is one of the reasons people like Uber. Just take a look at the responses on Reddit (often a bastion of #SJW leftism). While some are pumping their greedy fat fists for a government takeover everything the light touches, others aren't as excited...
Do people think that uber contractors aren't freely choosing to become uber drivers or something? Can't have anyone doing anything without permission and oversight from the overlords. Otherwise... Yeah.
You said nothing substantive. What is the problem with Uber and what specifically would you have the government impose on it?
Bernie doesn't get the power of self regulation in the digital economy. Trust me. If my Uber driver tries to eat me, or if his car smells like cat farts, I'm going to leave a bad review. He'll be downvoted into obscurity.
The "common man" who (socialist) Sanders claims to care so much about, is against a company loved by the "common man." It may sound inane, but we blame the comb that kicked his ass this morning.
A self-proclaimed 'socialist' attacking the 'sharing economy'? The irony's so rich, it'll give you gout.
