Government Bank Now Judging Applicants’ On Their "Diversity" Before Handing Grant Money For Housing
Redlining is a discriminatory practice in which services are withheld from potential customers for things like race. Liberals have been screaming that even though this practice stopped over 50 years ago, this still has a massive effect on people today.
In fact, it may even be the reason some people have diabetes. It also contributed to some people getting COVID.
“Historically redlined neighborhoods were shown to be subject to worse COVID-19 outcomes than residents within non-redlined areas,” according to the NIH.
Yes, this is also really caused by redlining even though as a sanctioned government practice, it ended with the passage of the Fair Housing Act in 1968.
Or so we thought….
The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) of Atlanta ran an $8 million grant program competition that partially judged applicants under the rubric of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), according to the Daily Caller.
“FHLBank Atlanta is committed to developing innovative solutions to help address affordable housing challenges in our communities,” said FHLBank Atlanta President and Chief Executive Officer Kirk Malmberg. “This new program and funding will help close financing gaps to make more affordable rental development projects feasible.”
You would think that the Fair Housing Act would make this illegal.
The program awarded projects that are either owned by a woman, minority, or disabled person or plans to deliver housing to those groups if it is a non-profit, according to a document from the FHLBank Atlanta that was obtained by the Daily Caller.
However, it is unclear what a “woman” is.
“We are committed to embedding DEI principles across all levels of our organization and into all elements of our internal and external operations, strategic planning, and decision making,” according to the document from the FHLBank Atlanta.
“We know that progress cannot be achieved through symbolic gestures or complacency; therefore, we challenge ourselves to be self-reflective, hold each other accountable, and continuously evaluate our practices to ensure the full integration of DEI into our culture. We are collectively stronger through an inclusive culture.”
“The Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta is now determining loans on the basis of "diversity, equity, and inclusion." This is discriminatory, illegal, and directly subsidized by the federal government,” Christopher Rufo wrote in an X post.
In Atlanta, the majority of the population is black, while 39.1% are white. Who do you think will be prioritized in the name of "diversity" and "inclusion?”
To use “systemic racism” to fix “systemic racism” that has not existed for over 50 years is a bit of a stretch, if you ask me. But I guess we are just "collectively stronger through an inclusive culture."
And don't forget, you can't have "inclusion" without exclusion and delusion!
