Affirmative action does more harm than good, specifically when it comes to Asian Americans in the education system. Black women are now the most educated group in America… meanwhile Asians are being rejected from colleges despite having impressive records (see REAL RACISM: Asian-Americans Denied College Admissions for Being Too Smart?!).
Take this guy, for instance. He has near perfect grades and extracurricular life. On paper, he’s the ideal candidate for an Ivy League school. Except there’s one problem: he’s not black.
Asian-American [Michael] Wang has a personal interest in the issue of affirmative action. [He] graduated with a 4.67 weighted GPA. He scored 2230 on his SAT, placing him in the 99th percentile of students who took the exam. With a perfect ACT score and 13 Advanced Placement courses under his belt, he applied to seven Ivy League universities and Stanford in 2013. After most of them rejected him, Wang filed a complaint with the US Department of Education, alleging that Yale, Stanford, and Princeton discriminated against him because of his race. He has yet to receive a response.
The US Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of affirmative action at the University of Texas last Thursday likely further validated the use of race in admissions policies.
Yet another reason you shouldn’t go to college. The backwards ideology of race-selective admissions is rampant. People are more concerned with filling race quotas than legitimate achievements. Whatever happened to judging people according to their merits? You know, instead of the color of the protective flesh sack that houses our insides.
The left tosses words like “systemic racism” around while they’re the ones who rigged the system with affirmative action rules. Which create the systemic racism they’re constantly railing against. Tons of qualified (or in this case extremely qualified) students are being rejected from their dream colleges… Because DIVERSITY.
