Arrests Down as Deportations Soar Across and Away from the Mexican Border
People didn't vote for Trump for his uncontrollable Twitter habit. Which is bordering on digital turrets. No, one reason people voted for El Trumpo was America's previous crappy record on illegal immigration. Look at the past week. We've had the heinous decision in the Kate Steinle case. We've also had an illegal get 35-years for rape. After being deported TWENTY TIMES. That's nineteen more than acceptable, for you STEM students.
So hearing deportations are on the rise is cause for el celebration.
I apologize for nothing.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, whose officers pick up people for deportation away from the border, made 143,470 arrests, an increase of 25 percent from 114,434 a year earlier. After Trump took office, ICE arrests surged 40 percent from the same period a year earlier.
The numbers released by the government Tuesday show that deportation officers are taking Trump’s call for an immigration crackdown to heart, even without the funding increase that the president has sought from Congress for more hiring. In February, then-Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly scrapped the previous administration’s instructions to limit deportations to public safety threats, convicted criminals and recent border crossers, effectively making anyone in the country illegally vulnerable.
But if deportations are up, how are arrests down? Isn't arresting less illegals a bad thing? Not if there are less illegals to arrest. It's kind of like needing less calamine lotion for chicken pox. Yes, yes, I just compared illegal immigration to a disease. That's not racist. If anything it's xenophobic. Just note no specific nationality has been called out in this post. So if you're making assumptions, maybe YOU'RE the racist?!
ICE said that deportations totaled 226,119, a decline of 6 percent from the previous year, but that number masks a seismic shift away from the border. ICE often takes custody of people at the border before deporting them; the sharp drop in Border Patrol arrests means fewer people to remove.
The Trump Administration is a mixed bag, full of ill placed exclamation points, and too many utterances of "really" and "truthfully." ! (that's not a typo). Frankly it can be a little exhausting. But Trump's promise to protect the border and simply enforce laws already existing? It's a promise he continues to fulfill. Just like leftists promising to fill their Huggies with giant hot loads.
We still want the wall. A giant, beautiful wall. Spray paint it with the American flag. Lyrics of the National Anthem. Let all ye NFL players kneel before its patriotic greatness.
