AOC to Billionaires: You Don't Work as Hard as Teachers, Single Moms
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says some pretty silly things. Like, totes silly like whoa things (see AOC: Lift Yourself Up by Your Bootstraps? “Physically Impossible” [VIDEO] and AOC to Successful People: You Don’t Deserve Your Wealth [VIDEO]). On the grand scale of silly AOC things, this tweet is only like a six out of ten. But billionaires are lately the leftists' boogeyman du jour. Plus, there's a point to be made.
This tweet reminds me of a question a friend asked me years ago because I was against raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires. This was back before so many liberal politicians became millionaires themselves. The narrative has shifted since then for some odd reason.
The question was, "Why do you care if other people's taxes go up?" I thought about it, and at the end of the day, I just don't hate and resent people who have more than I do. That's how this works. But for a leftist, it is wrong for millionaires and billionaires to have more money than you. So they need the government to take some of it away and give it to them. There's also the cynicism that if someone makes more money than you, they didn't do it legally. Basically, all millionaires and billionaires are more or less criminal. They just haven't been caught.
It's sad to think that way. Alas, here we are.
