New trailer for Yellowstone Season 5 is out and it already reveals one major storyline change

Before anyone starts, yes I remember Kevin Costner wore that dumb Liz Cheney shirt. I care about that about as much as I care about Liz Cheney, who is gone in a few months. Okay? Ok. What's important is that the new season of Yellowstone is out in November. A brand new trailer dropped today. And it starts off by sharing a major new storyline. John Dutton is the Governor of Montana.

Yellowstone is hands down the best show on television. The phrase "anti-woke" gets thrown around, but all that means to me is a show doesn't force a political agenda down your throat and the writing isn't lazy. Yellowstone tells complex stories with complex characters. Also, Rip kills a bunch of people and that's cool.

It also has a killer country music soundtrack. Yellowstone is why America knows about Whiskey Myers. For that reason alone, America should say thank you to Yellowstone. Or, thank you to whoever the music supervisor is.

This isn't to say that last season didn't draw well-deserved criticism. Franchises being what they are, producers are growing the "Yellowstone Universe." There's a bunch of new shows named after years that have significance in Dutton's family life. The show spent way too much time last season focusing on 1883 than on 2021. Also, the season finale was disappointing to the point while I enjoyed season 4, the season finale made me understand why people hated season 4.

But we're on season five now. There's going to be a body count. I'm excited.
