ACLU Deletes Tweet Supporting Anti-Catcalling Law in America
In case you were unaware, the full name of the ACLU is the American Civil Liberties Union. Their mission is supposedly "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." Their words, not mine.
You'd think with their being in favor of the Constitution and "individual rights," support for speech that is free would be a no-brainer. Not according to their new stance on catcalling:
Yes, the organization which prides itself on preserving free speech is advocating to criminalize speech.
Let's say you pay a compliment to an attractive female in public, With a catcalling law, she can notify the constabulary you end up getting a ticket and a court date. As opposed to her digits. This hardly sounds like free speech, yet the ACLU is all onboard.
Even they know how stupid their tweet was. Which is why they quickly pumped the brakes and yelled "ABORT! ABORT!" Too late.
The ACLU sure picks some interesting causes. Like fighting bills that would prohibit the mutilation of little girls' lady-parts. Or complaining over the Donald's overuse of the word "America" in his State of the Union speech. I'm sensing an ulterior motive at play here.
Liberals used to be the ones fighting against restricting free speech. Then again, back in those days the battle for free speech dealt with protecting the hippies' right to declare America a sh*thole. Advocate against bathing. Attempt to USSR the place up. Seems to me like the "free speech" angle was just a means to an end.
Tweets like this prove the ACLU is little more than a front for leftist douchebaggery. Though, we've been onto them for quite some time:
