ACLU Leader Resigns...Over Transgender Bathrooms?!
If you need another example over just how extreme the left has gotten in pushing their transsexual agenda (see Third Graders Forced To Read Transgender Book About ‘Boy in Dress’ and Idiot Parents Support ‘Transgender’ Change… For a 7 Year Old Child), here's one...it's too extreme for the head of Georgia's ACLU.
The African-American woman who leads a state chapter of the ACLU has resigned, citing her own daughters' “frightened” reaction to biological males using the women's restroom.
The organization's increasing focus on legislating the transgender lobby's concerns pushed Maya Dillard Smith, interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, to tender her resignation.
“I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered,” she wrote.
“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer,” she continued.
In a statement, she said that the ACLU has become “a special interest organization that promotes not all, but certain progressive rights.”
The “hierarchy of rights” the ACLU chooses to defend or ignore, she wrote, is “based on who is funding the organization’s lobbying activities." She did not elaborate on the group's funding.
In other words, when the men in her little girls' restroom affected her, but not the thousands of people in North Carolina, Maya Dillard Smith suddenly turned conservative. At least on this issue. Because it turns out, not wanting to have men in a bathroom with little girls, isn't as intolerant as the left would have us believe. Not even a leader of the ACLU could handle it. Men peeing next to her little girls was one too many progressive causes she could no longer champion.
This is liberalism in a nutshell. I don't want to feel bad about my choices, so I'll make you feel bad about yours... right up until said choice affects my family. Then...well, forget what I just said.
Men in ladies bathrooms is a problem. For the reason already cited above. How is this hard?
As to Ms. Smith here also pointing out that the ACLU has become a special interest group that promotes only certain progressive rights? Yeah, I'm super glad I was sitting down for that one. Again, leftism in a nutshell. Picking and choosing which victim group to promote, while systematically ignoring the rights of others. For the transgender bathroom issue, the people who's rights are being squashed? Yeah, they're women.
Feminists? Anytime. Water's warm...
