Aaron Sorkin Criticizes Babe Ruth: He 'Only Faced White Pitchers'
I needed my Heat Guardian heat resistant gloves for this scalding hot take. The New York Yankees have been hitting more than a few dingers this year in the new stadium. There's some debate whether it's as impressive as when Babe Ruth and Roger Maris did it. What with the new stadiums being smaller and the ball not having to travel as far.
TMZ asked Aaron Sorkin for his opinion.
"If there's no asterisk next to Babe Ruth for only facing white pitchers, then there can't be any asterisk on the Yankees."
I'm usually good at separating "art" from "artist." And I'll always love The West Wing (see FLASHBACK: ‘The West Wing’ Nails Real Racism vs. Being an Entitled Pansy and ‘West Wing’ Flashback on Islam: They’ll like Us When We Win). But Aaron Sorkin is creeping up on my shortlist of people who social media has exposed as such yuge leftist doucheburgers, I've lost all interest in his future work.
Especially a rumored The West Wing Reboot, which you and I both know will just be one giant subtweet of Donald Trump.
But this goes in line with the left's attempt to judge people on current social standards, doing away with the social morays of the time those people existed. It's not fair to judge Babe Ruth based on 2018. Yes, segregation was wrong. But does Babe Ruth's athleticism really need to be determined by the race of people who never pitched for him? Will Aaron Sorkin be later judged for not casting Scarlet Johhanson as a trans version of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network? Shouldn't we just stop being so wantonly stupid about what happened generations ago?
Let's move on:
