Every time there is a national tragedy, almost before liberal bloggers take to Twitter to politicize it before any actual facts come out, you can count on celebrities saying something ridiculously stupid. Thankfully, there are still some people, like Howard Stern who in this case, is NOT ok with disarming himself and surrendering freedom in response to a terror attack...

‘The most gun-free zone on the planet is a plane. On 9/11, what did the wolves do? They said, ‘This is great. We’ll just kill the sheep with boxcutters.’ So they went on the plane with boxcutters and all the sheep went, ‘Baaaa.’

‘The wolves are always planning. They’ll use boxcutters. They’ll use an airplane fly it right into a building. They don’t need AR-15s.

‘I don’t like violence — I don’t like any of this stuff — but I consider myself a sheep. Most of your politicians have private security, so they’re OK. Those are sheep that are very well protected. You, on the other hand, are a sitting duck.

‘I’m not for taking away people’s rights.’

This isn't all that shocking because Stern has broken with celebrities before on the 2nd Amendment and with his support of Israel.

He's totally right. The holier-than-thou politicians sit in their gun-protected ivory tower telling the rest of us how we should give up our arms and put our complete trust in them for protection. Even though we know, from experience and history, that someone is best protected when able to protect themselves. With a gun.

But that's of course the whole problem with the Second Amendment. It grants people the personal freedom to defend themselves. It removes government from the equation entirely. Which is one of the many reasons the left has their targets set on the Second Amendment. Anything which limits the government is a threat to government. They need to be needed, don't you know. They want to be, using Stern's metaphors, the sheepdog who protects the flock.

Of course the problem is quite often the sheepdog cannot protect the entire flock from danger. And of course, the sheepdog isn't always who he appears to be.

So buy ammo. Get guns. Yes, even you in the LGBT community. Especially you, in fact (read Dear LGBT Community: Get Yourselves Some Guns. Now.). Everyone is safer when they're able to defend themselves from wolves, or wolves in sheep's clothing.
